From problem to solution
Used cooking oil still too often ends up in the environment or in the sewer system, with all the consequences that entails. That is why Rotech developed a sustainable and user-friendly collection point for household cooking oil. This cover for wheelie bins was designed and produced entirely in-house, from the first sketch to the last screw.
Production process
Developed from A to Z by Rotech
The design was conceived and refined by our own designer, who went through several iterations based on customer needs and our years of experience with rotational moulding. The process began with technical drawings, followed by an EPS foam version — a scale model that helped us estimate what the final product would look like physically. This was followed by renders, mould development and finally the production process in LLDPE.

Smart design
This housing consists of several parts:
- The body (main structure)
- A door for emptying or access
- And a cover for protection and closure
The whole unit is formed using three separate moulds. Inside, a wheelie bin sits loosely in the housing, securely locked with a lock. The entire system is anchored to the ground so that it remains firmly in place.
Sustainable material
The LLDPE compound used has been specially selected: not only does it withstand extreme weather conditions, it is also easy to clean — a major advantage in the event of oil spills.

- The OlioBox was manufactured using a CNC-milled aluminium mould equipped with smart sliding systems to enable the complex design.

For this project, Rotech used its expertise in rotomoulding to create a strong, low-maintenance and vandal-proof container.
This combination of functional design and technical precision makes the OlioBox a prime example of how rotomoulding contributes to circular and user-friendly product solutions.
